Due to the devastating effects of Cyclone Fani in Odisha, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2019 exam will now be held on 20th May 2019 for Odisha candidates, according to the NTA.
As Cyclone Fani hit Odisha last Friday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to postpone the NEET 2019 date in Odisha as the state was severely affected due to the effects of the cyclone. The seven NEET examination centres in Odisha are Angul, Baleswar, Behrampur, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, Rourkela and Sambalpur. Higher Education Secretary R. Subrahmanyam stated
“NEET exam scheduled for May 5th in Odisha has been postponed as per the request of State Govt working on relief and rehabilitation work in the wake of cyclone Fani. Revised dates for the exam in Odisha will be announced soon.”
On 6th May 2019, the NTA released an official public notice announcing
“On the request of the State Government of Odisha in the wake of Fani Cyclone, the NEET (UG) – 2019 Examination, which was scheduled to be held on 05.05.2019 (Sunday), was postponed ONLY for the Candidates having Examination Centres in Odisha until further notice.”
The notice further stated
“The exam for the above candidates will now be held on 20/05/2019 from 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM. The centres of the exam will remain the same. The revised Admit Cards are being issued shortly.”
With the announcement of the revised NEET 2019 date in Odisha, candidates appearing for the examination in the state need to download the revised NEET 2019 admit card which will include necessary details like details exam centres, address and code.
